Winter Is Coming… Prepare Your Mind & Body Now

Gut Microbes and You

If you thought neurons were specific to your brain, think again. As it turns out, there are 100 million neurons in the gut wall that connect 100 trillion of the guts’ microbes to the human brain. (1)

These gut microbes literally make the brain chemicals (they are actually manufactured in the gut, making brain chemicals somewhat of a misnomer) that are delivered to the central nervous system, and ultimately determine how we think and feel on a daily basis. This makes “gut feelings” an actually relevant saying!

Stress and Our Microbes

Stress has been shown to destroy good immune-building, mood-boosting microbes in the gut, not to mention alter our brain chemistry while taking out our ability to feel good after a meal or digest well. (2, 3)

In fact, thousands of strains of good bacteria that are responsible for innumerable functions in the body are just non-existent in the humans of the west! Could this be thanks to the culture of rampant stress we have created?

Of course, that’s not the only reason. Our “take no prisoners” assault on bacteria in our foods, water, hands, and bodies has left our guts without the ability to support diverse strains of good intestinal microbes.

Restore Your Digestive/Detox Pathways and Re(Build) Your Microbiome

Now that we know that the microbes are running the show, it is time we prepare the skin of the intestines to rebuild the critically important human microbiome – the collective ecological community of microbes that share our bodies. This starts by restoring the optimal function of the body’s ability to digest and detox well. Poor and inefficient digestion allows undigested food and toxins to irritate the intestinal skin, altering the environment for good microbes to grow.

Ask yourself: Do I digest as well today as I did when I was 18?

You may think that question is crazy… Our digestion is supposed to weaken as we age, right?

Wrong!

I just don’t buy it – and if you do – say goodbye to all those really important good microbes that control nearly every aspect of your health.

I do believe we can all have the digestive strength that we had as 18-year-olds. The reality is that if you do not digest well, you will not detox well. That’s because the body’s detox pathways are the same as its digestive pathways. So, if you have a list of foods you cannot tolerate anymore – such as wheat, gluten, or dairy – dig in and reboot your digestive strength! Doing so will lower the risk of slowly building toxicity in the body as a result of your digestion breaking down and all those good microbes disappearing.

Strong Digestion is Essential During Winter

The late fall harvest, which we eat throughout the winter, is rich in denser foods like root veggies, winter squashes, hearty greens, grains, nuts and seeds. All of these foods are much harder to digest compared to the foods of spring and summer, thus, a stronger digestion is essential. Before you start eating these more dense foods of winter, take advantage of the opportunity to cleanse and reboot your digestive strength. With winter and holiday foods just around the corner, this may pay healthy dividends in terms of your immunity, weight-management and mood this winter.

I designed the Colorado Cleanse to do exactly that – to scrub and reboot every aspect of digestion while restoring the body’s natural ability to detoxify. Once the body can digest again and detox well again, we finally become able to access the old toxins out of the fat cells where they may have been stored for years. Take action to restore your detox pathways and escort toxic chemicals, preservatives, pesticides, pollutants and heavy metals out of your body!
