Hello, I have recently purchased The Yoga Body Diet. I have to say I love the book. I have been suffering for a long time from severe anxiety and have recently embarked on the journey of healing. After many doctors have tried to persuade me to take antidepressants and anti-anxiety medication, my frustration had reached an all-time high. I was adamant and still am quite adamant about the fact that taking a synthetic drug, to “fight” the anxiety was not the answer. So I decided to do my own research and educate myself as much as possible. Through my journey, I have come across many avenues. All seem to come exactly when I need them. One being the The Yoga Body Diet. For me, it is not so much about the weight loss (however, I have lost 25lbs so far); it is about finding a connection with my mind, body, and spirit.
I am a single mom, and a lot of my anxiety came from worrying about not being fully capable of providing a good home for my son. I now have such a sense of calm and center that I can look at his face and know that he is a happy little boy. The eating plan, the yoga, and all the information has reinforced what I have already discovered on my own by just listening to my body. Not trying to force it, but just doing what comes naturally. With all of these crazy, almost bullying diets and exercise routines, it is no wonder that most people in today’s society suffer from anxiety, obesity, or depression. This book is refreshing, calming, and, most importantly, it works! Thanks a lot. It is inspiring for me to continue forward with loving my body, my unique body, and to appreciate all the nourishment that our world has to offer.**

I wanted to contact you about your book [Body, Mind and Sport] and the breath. I read your book a few months ago. I am a swimmer. I tried practicing breathing in and out my nose while I did my laps. I now breathe in and out through my nose: the funny thing is that I just swim and swim and swim, an energized bunny or pescado (but for me, I am a pescada!) Even if I increase the workload, I swim with ease. Swimming is my quiet and escape time, the joy from working out!!**
mastering nasal breathing while swimming front crawl (or any other stroke except butterfly) took patience.i think the breath control has to do with yoga.exhaling all the air was the scariest part because of not knowing if i would need to gasp for the inhale coming up.but i don’t.when i try to get all the air out, under water, and then turn my head for the inhale, it is amazing.the breath is so smooth to inhale.ya know, i always reach the “zone” or whatever they call it.one of the parts i enjoy the most is even if i am not in good mood when i start out, i always end up happy and gratified.so thank you once again.**
you wrote about patience and practice in order to “work out” while breathing through the nose.i wanted something more to enhance my swimming.when i found out that i was achieving just that, i just kept it up.these athletes (and i am not) who huff and puff when they finish a few hundreds, or these swimmers who have been swimming for years, who slow down after awhile…. it is like wow. oh yea, i have even increased the workload (a lap a minute)… swimming faster in a 25 yard pool. nothing, i am cruising and still not huffing and puffing.i just had to share this with you.it took about 12 weeks.., and up to now to truly enjoy it.**

I just wanted to say it was good to see you and that it was a great class. It was the best pulse assessment class I have had and I have had a number of them from various teachers. I am still not sure of how much more you get from pulse versus intake or accuracy of a diagnosis separate from intake, but you have provided me with more depth in the pulse than I previously had.**
I also really appreciate your counsel to people about allowing oneself to be taken advantage of. This is also one of my mantras as well; not to the level of being a sucker for punishment but to be extremely tolerant and self-sacrificing to those we love. Not a lot of people express such ideas so I wanted to thank you for this as well.**

I want to live with you :-)I could help with the kids( I’m a mom of seven and have 14 ‘grands’)-well, maybe not that extreme but sure wish I could just hop over to your spa.You made up for the previous day’s R.D.’s typical hospital/ FDA / AMA “healthy diets” lecture. I have been an RN for 50 yrsWhat has been and continues to be the most deficient, dead food diets on the planet ?- of course, hospital “food”. She conveniently avoided discussing “pure looking” (deadly) seed oils that are the inflammation starters, grains that must be SOAKEDto lessen phytic acid, and aspartame and its ilk that we can’t condemn- “jury still out” nonsense.**
Could you feel our excitement hearing such vital, courageous, loving, life-affirming, information presented by a healthy, happy specimen of real abundant life? The highest praise is measured by the length of lines to BR after discussion over. No one wanted to miss a minute. I met Dr. Douillard at the Yoga Journal Conference in Estes Park, Colorado a few weeks ago. I took his class on Ayurveda and Exercise. At the end of the class I told him that I was preparing for a 10 mile race and was having so much trouble breathing and that his technique changed my whole outlook. I’m writing to tell him the results of my race.**
Though I hadn’t trained for the race (since I got so discouraged with my training – I’m not a runner at all), I decided to use the race to experiment with the breathing described in Body, Mind and Sport. The first 4 miles I did a run/walk with this method and kept a good 12 minute mile pace! I was amazed. I never once needed my inhaler. Back in June I attempted a 5k, only to be winded and asthmatic by the end. So this was a huge improvement!**
I finished the 10 mile race, compromised by blisters on my feet, but never by my lung capacity. I’m a big fan of the closed mouth breathing technique and I wanted to express my thanks to Dr Douillard. I’m looking forward to actually enjoying a running practice in the future!**

During the [Colorado Cleanse] pre cleanse, my digestive system changed so dramatically. The speed of the change really surprised me. From Tuesday to Friday, I woke to a morning bowel movement, when for over a year I’ve had nothing but fowl smelling gas and incredible amounts of mucous in the morning. Without this painful experience, I wouldn’t have discovered how Ayurveda can benefit my family and realized how much the digestive system plays an enormous role in our wellbeing.I was sleep deprived (still am) for months, experiencing severe dizziness, nausea, abdominal pain, loss of appetite, headaches, anxiety attacks….I had multiple hospital visits, doctor visits, tests after tests leading nowhere.I started the cleanse and suffered the first few days due to blood sugar issues but after that,… a miracle.I started feeling this inner calm that was amazing, my body wasn’t fighting anymore.It seemed to be at peace. I didn’t get any more sleep than before yet I felt soooooooo rested.That blew my mind.As my body became more in balance, so did my mind.I want to thank everyone at Lifespa for creating this amazing cleanse and for the incredible support you provided on this journey.I loved it, I love how I feel and especially what I have learned about my health.My dizziness is gone and I feel rested even though I’m not getting more sleep.I still have abdominal pain on my right side when I apply pressure.I have a colonoscopy scheduled but I’m not sure we’ll find anything.Colon cancer runs in my family so we are trying to rule this out.My anxiety has faded away and my energy is back.I think in order for me to start feeling a bigger difference (this was pretty incredible for my first cleanse), as Dr. Douillard mentioned, there are multiple layers to peel away and after multiple cleanses, I should be fully restored.Thank you Dr. Douillard for the wonderful work you do.You are an inspiration to us all.**

I wanted to express you my gratitude for what you have shared with us during the cleanse. During the cleanse I had several things to do like: cook every day for my family (I have 2 kids), bake a cake for a community pic-nic and go out for dinner with friends… and,hard to believe at least for me, I was so happy with my Khichadi that I didn’t mind at all to have around other kind of food! It was amazing! I really enjoyed every single day of the cleanse. My little one, almost 3, said when she grows up, she will do the “detok” with me!Thanks again!**
