Podcast Show Notes
In this episode of the Ayurveda Meets Modern Science podcast, host John Douillard, DC, CAP, interviews Logan Wright on his company Greco Gum. Logan, a proponent for the importance of chewing, is the founder of Greco Gum. Greco Gum is an all-natural chewing gum, made entirely of sap from mastic trees. Organically grown and hand-harvested on the island of Chios, mastic resin has been chewed for thousands of years and is revered for its medicinal benefits.

What is Mastic Gum?
Mastic gum is the world’s first gum and has been harvested for at least 2,500 years. Mastic gum is derived from the crystallized tree sap resin from the Pistacia lentiscus, or mastic tree, and is exclusively harvested once a year on the Greek island Chios.
Unlike conventional chewing gum you might find at a gas station, mastic gum is not full of chemicals, dyes or sweeteners. Similar to products like maple syrup or eggs, mastic comes in various grades. Greco Gum utilizes only the finest A grade mastic. Dr. John has tried many different mastic gums and Greco Gum is the favorite. It is not powdery or overly sticky and turns into the gum texture quickly, unlike other brands he has tried that may have been using a lower grade product.
Note it will still take a few minutes to slowly warm up from its hard rocklike resin to actual chewing gum.
