Meditation is fortunately becoming more and more widely accepted in the west today, but its benefits are still largely relegated to that of stress relief. While stress relief is an amazing and much-needed benefit in today’s fast-paced society, the practice has the potential to offer so much more.
LifeSpa’s approach to meditation is called the Transformational Awareness Technique, and teaches a series of six meditations whose ultimate goal is to help you attain freedom from the thoughts and emotions which all too frequently hold us hostage.
Once we are freed from the grip of our thoughts and emotions, we become available to play the part we were meant to play in this life, to be our true selves, act from the heart, and follow our truth (not somebody else’s truth projected onto us) to an experience of pure joy.

In recent studies, meditation has been found to increase the activity of an enzyme called telomerase, which protects the chromosomal caps, called telomeres, from shortening. These chromosomal caps protect our cells from aging, degeneration and disease. Chanting, yoga, and other Ayurvedic lifestyle practices were shown to also increase the activity of telomerase in the body. (1)
