As a meditator since age 17, I have been gifted with the opportunity to see beyond the stress-reduction benefits of meditation to its ability to deliver very real transformation into our lives. Imagine ending the cycle of dissatisfaction, whereby we always need something more to be at peace to just live our lives, to just be here. TAT teaches us this.
Brain wave research shows us that, in this state of deep relaxation, stress does not accumulate.
For many of us, though, meditation does not come so easily. We may have tried it once or twice, may have even cultivated a practice once-upon-a-time, but we found it hard to sustain. Our minds took over again, and we found ourselves hurled back into a reactive, stress-laden lifestyle that ultimately robs us of our ability to be joyful for no reason.
Perhaps we have felt discouraged or reluctant to try a meditation practice since. I created the Transformational Awareness Technique: Six Meditations to Emotional Freedom so anyone can be a successful meditator, including you.

After meditating for almost forty years, I can say that it has been one of the most helpful tools in my life. That’s because the effects seep into all aspects of my life, including my relationships and the work that I do. When you start learning the Transformational Awareness Technique, you will begin to see changes in your life. As you gradually begin to show up differently in your life, life will also begin to have a more joyful quality about it.
We live in a culture of addiction. Most of us, whether we recognize it or not, are going from one “fix” to the next. Constantly going out to get the next dopamine fix, whether it be through food, alcohol, shopping or extreme sports. Meditation allows us to break that cycle – not because it’s bad or wrong – but because we can have something better.
This something better is only available by going within, and it’s the best gift that you can give yourself.
Infuse Your Everyday Life with Awareness
In my practice, I regularly see patients who are long-time meditators but their lives reflect the same issues they struggled with before. The meditation allows them a momentary oasis of calm – but that calm isn’t projecting into their lives. If you are new to meditation, you can skip years of frustration that can result from just meditating and not really learning how to take the transformational action steps.
I won’t let you sit at home and meditate and do nothing, because that misses the point.
My goal is to show you how to take that “eye of the hurricane,” that calm, and use it to become a fully mature hurricane, creating positive change all around you. This is the “transformation” part of the TAT equation and why I decided to design my own meditation course even when there is no shortage of meditation instruction out there.
What TAT Involves
In the first week, the Transformational Awareness Technique will require a commitment of only minutes a day. At its most intensive, TAT requires about 20 – 30 minutes, two times a day.
If that sounds like time you don’t have, consider the fact that when we come from a place of deep silence rather than stress, we are much more productive. We accomplish tasks faster and with more ease than we did before, and yet we are not straining. We don’t waste time on unfulfilling escape activities, behaviors or reactions.
It’s a paradox I like to call “the eye of the hurricane.” The bigger the eye (the more quiet we can be inside), the more powerful the winds. The time you dedicate to your TAT practice will continue to pay dividends in all aspects of your life.
